Support us in our year-round mission to rescue and mentor the next generation in practical life skills. Currently, Northeast Gateway to Freedom in Newburgh, New York, provides service to 350 residents.
Sense of Purpose
The main goal is to prevent crime and empower youth by giving them hope, vision, and encouragement for their future. We are an innovative safe haven for latch key, unaccompanied minors, and fatherless at-risk youth of financially struggling homes.
Internship Program
We have verified the needs of our city's youth to be endless, both socially and academically. The internship portion of our KIDZ Initiative gives 14-21 year olds the opportunity to learn leadership skills while training younger KIDZ, which advances the prospects for their future.
Quality Volunteers
To date we have a staff of volunteers that includes retired teachers, grandparents, young adults, and local business professionals. This support group provides for the projected 100 children in our summer initiative.
Support Needed
We have a team of 35 volunteers in valuable programs, such as our after school initiative. As the community is becoming more aware of what we provide for our youth, it is imperative to recruit additional skilled mentors and secure a small staff.
Transforming Families
We are very involved in the entire transformation of a family's life. We keep clothing, supplies, and basic living needs on hand so that each child has the necessities to get through school.
Jump Start
We provide life skills training to interns who need to jump into the next phase of their lives. Our collaborating business professionals host mock job training and interviews with local businesses.
Interview Knowledge
This helps our interns train on how to fill out applications, know what is expected of them during an interview, and inform them on how to determine whether they would be an asset to the hiring company and if not, why not and how to remedy that.
